Narrative: St. Cecilia was born in Rome in the second or third century. Though little is known of this beloved martyr, it is believed that she was an early Christian who devoted her life to God and the conversion of fellow Romans to Christ. Cecilia was sentenced to death because of her beliefs and was buried near the papal crypt in the catacombs.
The patron saint of music, Cecilia is shown here holding a hand bell. She was known to sing to the Lord with all her heart, symbolized in this icon by a small bird in song. (This narrative is printed on the back of Note Cards. A copy is included with each plaque.)
