The Gospel of John opens, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be."
Thereafter, that Gospel continues, "And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth."
The luminous desire and creative love expressed in these verses are represented visually in this icon. Jesus has taken form to reveal the love of God the Father. His cloak is humble but his essence is glorious and everlasting. We see the intention of his love toward creation in the colors which spread from his mind and heart upon the created world.

Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within your wounds hide me.
Separated from you, let me never be.
From the evil one, protect me.
At the hour of my death, call me.
And close to you bid me.
That with your saints, I may be ,
praising you, forever and ever. Amen.
